Singing for the Stage: Improved Interpretation Though the Development of Individual Working Methods
This paper is concerned with the construction of a training method to be used for improving musical interpretation. It is addressed to actors and other students of dramatic arts who have the ability to sing and wish to develop this ability further. It offers valuable suggestions how to work on music form, phrasing, articulation and emphasis. It also covers a few points of rhythmic theory, such as cross rhythms, the meaning of the concept of rhythmic pulsating, swing, polyrhythm, shifting accents and finally, the importance of finding oneself in musical groove. The last chapter is dedicated to rhythmic and harmonic techni ues of melody embellishment.
